Signing a National Letter of Intent with IUP
Student athletes must provide a high school unofficial transcript to the
coach, apply
online and mail official high school transcript to admissions, and be registered with the NCAA Eligibility Center prior to signing with
IUP. The
fall signing period is November 9-16, 2011 and the spring signing period is
April, 2012.
1) Fax unofficial high school transcript to (724)
357-3446, attention baseball.
2) Apply to IUP (website)
and mail official high school transcript to IUP admissions office.
3) Register with NCAA Eligibility Center (website)
and notify coach of your ten digit ID number.
The National Letter of Intent process ....
Once you have completed the three steps above, the
baseball coach will then reguest your National Letter of Intent (NLI). Fran Nee,
IUP Compliance Director, creates the NCAA's formal National Letter of Intent for
you. She will email a PDF file on Monday, November 7 or Tuesday, November
8. Please make sure you are on a computer that can open a PDF file. Print
the NLI and sign it as directed during the day on November 9. You sign page 1
and both you and your parents sign page 4. Both signatures are to be after
7:00 AM on Wednesday morning, November 10. Once signed, fax a copy to

NCAA Bylaw 13.3.1.2 Report Distribution of
Graduation Rates
Member institutions shall provide prospective student-athletes and parents or
legal guardians a copy of the institution's academic success rate.

NCAA Bylaw 13.3.2.2 Report Distribution of
NCAA Banned Drugs
Member institutions shall provide prospective student-athletes and parents or
legal guardians the NCAA banned drug list and information about nutritional
supplements.
NCAA Bylaw 13.3.3 Notification of Initial
Eligibility Standards
Member institutions shall provide prospective student-athletes and parents or
legal guardians information regarding the initial eligibility standards
contained in Bylaw 14.3.
NCAA Bylaw 14.3.1.1 Qualifier
A qualifier is defined as one who is a high school graduate and who
completes minimum academic qualifications.
NCAA Bylaw 14.3.1.1 Qualifier
A qualifier is defined as one who is a high school graduate and who
presented the following minimum academic qualifications. Effective August
1, 2013, for those student-athletes entering college on or after August 1, 2013,
16 academic core courses are needed (increased from 14).
a) A minimum cumulative grade point average of
2.00 based on 4.00 in a successfully completed core curriculum of at least 14
(16 for 2013 graduates)
academic courses per Bylaw 14.3.1.2, including:
- English 3 years
- Math 2 years
- Natural or physical science, including lab 2 years
- Additional English, math, or natural or physical science 2 (3 in 2013) years
- Social science 2 years
- Additional academic courses in any of the above areas or foreign language,
philosophy, or nondoctrinal religion 3 (4 in 2013) years.
The record of the above courses and course grades must be certified by the NCAA Eligibility Center using an official high school transcript forwarded directly from the high school or on a high school transcript forwarded by an institution's admissions office.
b) A minimum combined score on the SAT verbal / critical reasoning and math sections of 820 or a minimum sum score of 68 on the ACT.
