Gett's Driven to Succeed
I am currently in my 5th
year at IUP and will be graduating in May of this year. I am now interning at
the District Attorney’s Office in the Indiana County Courthouse. My
internship includes court room observations, helping the detectives with cases,
and assisting the detectives with bench warrant arrests. I would like to one
day work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a detective and specialize
with identity theft or the United States Postal Inspectors and investigate
narcotics and illegal money through the mail. My internship is providing me
experience with a variety things I will be dealing with when I enter the job
force.
I am also helping out the IUP Baseball team as a volunteer assistant coach,
working mainly with the pitchers. As a result of pitching at IUP for four years
I made some great friendships. I enjoy still being a part of the baseball team
because baseball has been such a huge part of my life and without it I would
probably go insane. The team is full of a great group of guys and I would do
anything for them. I am most excited about is being able to coach with one of
my best friends, Anthony Rebyanski. “Rabbi” and I have shared some great
moments both on and off the field and now we continue our friendship as coaches.
It’s kind of hard to not be a part of the team. Baseball has been such a
routine for me since I was six and also I played with most of the guys on the
team last year. I feel like I should still be telling Aaron Albert “way to
save my butt on that catch” or telling Brennen Dayton “good pitch call”. I
am thankful for getting my chance to play college baseball and still having the
opportunity to be around the team.

... he emphasizes the most important things

Coach Ditch has given me a great
opportunity to help out with the team, and if coaching is something I feel like
I should pursue I will have the experience because of the opportunity he has
given me. I am very thankful that I had the opportunity to play under Coach
Ditch because he emphasizes the most important things first: responsibility,
character and mental attitude. Although it is easy to get caught up in the
college life, he is always there to let us know what is the most important, and
I believe that it has helped me realize what is most important in life.
I am excited to see what this year’s team has to offer because they have been
working hard and show great potential. The freshmen have especially
surprised me because they are reacting to the next level in a positive way and
continue to learn. With the hard work and positive attitude, I hope we can turn
around from last year and get our program moving in a positive direction.
