"I
feel very privileged to work in the health and fitness industry and have very
high expectations for our students within our department. I firmly believe that
the qualities necessary to be a good student are enhanced by participation in
sports. In order to excel in sports you have to have a vision that is focused on
a team concept. You face adversity
and challenges each and every day and what sets the winners apart are how they
handle those challenges and adversity. A student athlete should set an example
to other students in terms of a strong work ethic, dedication and commitment to
their field. Shawn is a great example of a true student athlete. He is focused
and committed to doing well and set a terrific example for other students. I
feel very sure that Shawn will be successful in both athletics and his
professional career."
- Leslie Stenger, IUP Health
and Physical Education
"I
am glad to see and hear that Shawn is doing well at IUP! Shawn was always a
student/athlete that, as a coach, I never had to worry about academically. He
was always very conscientious about his academic standing while a student at
Westmoreland County Community College. As an athlete, Shawn was a diligent
worker. He worked extremely hard in the off-season to become a better player.
Shawn is every bit as diligent about his academic success. Shawn is the type of
person that puts 100% effort to everything he does! He is truly what college
athletics and being a student/athlete is all about! Our coaching staff at WCCC
is very proud of Shawn Schwarz!"
