"Jake came into our program in geography with an excellent academic record in high school. So far in his career at the university level he has continued to do a commendable job in the classroom, demonstrating that he is committed to being a true student-athlete. We are proud to have Jake as part of our program."
        - John Benhart, Jr., Ph.D., IUP Professor and Chair, Department of Geography & Regional Planning

"Jake is one of those kids who not only gives 110% in the classroom and on the baseball field, but also in the community.  He has been active for the last couple of years with the United Way of Indiana County, volunteering for our special fundraising events, specifically Pancake and Sausage Day.  Whether it is cleaning a table, helping senior citizens to their table with food, or making pancakes, Jake has always been there.  I have some new ideas for the United Way of the rest of 2007 and I am sure Jake will continue to be the first one to step forward to help.  We need more young athletes like Jake to take an interest in their home community and their college community."
